San Diego Startups of the Week

Written by Marc Alringer

The number of startups choosing to operate out of San Diego continues to increase. Over the past two years more than 800 new startups launched in San Diego county. Whether a company is a few months old or 10 years old, we love having them in San Diego. We have listed a few of our favorites from the past couple years and we look forward to the exciting new startups that will launch in 2018.

Raken, Inc.

Raken is a mobile app that enables daily reporting for contractors. Whether you are at the jobsite or on the go, you can always be informed. The app’s dashboard provides valuable insights to help keep track of the overall performance of your projects.  You can compile progress reports, evaluate manpower, and capture photos in the field all from the same app. Eliminate all the small, tedious and frustrating tasks, and use Raken to complete projects more efficiently.

Ingenu

Ingenu is focused on developing the world’s largest Internet of Things (IoT) network to increase connectivity for machines. They call it the Machine Network™. The Machine Network will have greater coverage, increased longevity, and robust data transmission capabilities. From the beginning they’ve envisioned global machine connectivity and have designed their technology to meet the 80% of devices on the IoT. Ingenu is fast to help its customers, respond to partners, and they develop technology to meet M2M (machine-to-machine) needs.

Measurabl

Measurabl is a software platform used by companies to manage, measure, and improve their energy and sustainability performance. With the growing need to use more sustainable practices, Measurabl facilitates the process of recording and identifying energy and water efficiencies. The software is capable of compiling and simplifying reports to global sustainability benchmarks like GRESB and CDP. It also continually checks for discrepancies and irregularities so your reports are always up to date.

Grolltex

Grolltex is short for ‘graphene-rolling-technologies’. It’s quite an intricate name, but it fits the company perfectly. Grolltex makes the highest quality, single layer graphene sheets. You might be asking, what in the world is graphene…so were we! It’s an extremely electrically conductive flat sheet of carbon atoms. At only one atom thick, it is 200 times stronger than steel, but flexible. Some call it the strongest material in the world. The material is sought after by manufacturers of electronic devices such as batteries, sensors, smartphone displays, medical devices, and much more.

Clarify Medical

Wouldn’t it be convenient if you could skip the visit to the doctor and handle some of your own treatments? Well, now you can. Clarify Medical developed a UVB Light Therapy device that can be used to treat skin issues including eczema, psoriasis, and other chronic conditions. The use of phototherapy to treat chronic skin conditions has been around for nearly a century. This innovative handheld design is portable and lets you focus healing energy exactly where and when it’ needed.
